In addition as is the case with many other psychiatric illnesses there is a high comorbidity rate associated with anxiety disorders specifically social phobia 5 8 9 . As Demyttenaere et al. state in their introductory paragraph with a high prevalence rate and increased comorbidity phobic disorder places a significant burden not only on suffering patients but also on family members caregivers and healthcare services. Even though the burden associated with anxiety disorders has recently been documented in epidemiologic studies such as the Epidemiologic Catchment Area ECA study and the National Comorbidity Survey NCS .
