For ease of presentation, these projections compare the growth of Hathi to a baseline of constant volume counts at the largest university and non-university ARL collections. Of course, it is reasonable to expect that volume counts for print holdings at these libraries will continue to grow over the next decade; however, the current growth rate of the HathiTrust Digital Library substantially outpaces median annual growth rates at ARL member libraries (approximately 2% of total volume count, based on recent ARL statistics) so we can anticipate that the overlap in digitization of retrospective print holdings will continue to grow faster than.
