For each topic that was prioritised for economic analysis a comprehensive systematic review of the economic literature was conducted. Where published economic evaluation studies were identified that addressed the economic issues for a clinical question, these are presented alongside the clinical evidence wherever possible. For those clinical areas reviewed, the information specialists used a similar search strategy as used for the review of clinical evidence but with the inclusion of a health economics filter. Each search strategy was designed to find any applied study estimating the cost or cost effectiveness of the topic under consideration. A health economist reviewed.
