Responding to the Challenge of Cancer in Europe has been written within the Fighting Against Cancer Today (FACT) project, funded by the EU’s Public Health Programme. It brings together a large body of evidence on cancer control in Europe, a priority theme in public health during the Slovenian Presidency of the European Union in 2008. We are extremely grateful to all the authors for the enthusiasm they have brought to this project and their hard work in meeting tight deadlines.
