The Bank plans to include a page of environmental indicators in Country Assistance Strategies — the documents drawn up to guide policy discussion with each client country — as well as in its cross-country analytical work. A key figure that is likely to guide Bank decision-makers, and by extension, policy-makers in many countries, is the new concept of “genuine savings”. Genuine savings figures aim to denote the rate at which national wealth (broadened to include human capital, and natural capital) is being created or destroyed. Figures on this will be published annually in the Bank's World Development Indicators and used.
