Contact with other conservators and researchers has indeed been important in shaping Contemporary Theory of Conservation. Among these, my colleagues at the Conservation Department in the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia deserve recognition, as they have helped me to dare to think. For this same reason, Eugene F. Farrell and the kind people at Harvard’s Center for Conservation and Technical Studies (presently the Straus Center for Conservation) also had an influence upon this work.
