Fertility decline of high-risk groups and use of safe menstrual regulation (MR) provided by the government undoubtedly also contribute to the reduced MMR. Many women in Bangladesh now enjoy access to menstrual regulation (MR) services to avoid unwanted pregnancies. Though studies on MR have found it to be generally safe, it raised concerns regarding the technical training and skills of the service providers. Approximately 71,800 women are hospitalized each year due to complications from unsafe procedure. Access to legal MR services is also poorer in rural areas than in the urban areas. Improved quality, accessibility, capacity building of providers, ensured supplies and advocacy are issues to be addressed rather.
