This is a book about law and public health, but not about public health law as it has been traditionally understood. The book does not focus on statutory measures for the containment of disease (although they are referred to when relevant). Nor does it focus on national powers and duties and the implementation of national policies on health harms (although these are referred to as well). Rather, it is recognised that public health regulation and the use of law as a tool for the attainment of public health operate at global, regional, national and personal levels, just as responsibility for health lies on international, regional and national bodies.
