The Protection Area and Development review, in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), BirdLife International and FPD undertook another field study in Khe Tran and other specific sites of Thua Thien Hue province in late 2001 and early 2002. The objective was to examine the actual and potential economic contribution of the protected areas to different economic sectors in the province and to define important policy and planning issues related to maintaining and enhancing the development benefits from the protected areas. This information helped policy-makers and planners to understand how their actions could influence protected area management, local livelihoods.
