The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is an important first step in reforming our broken health care system. For children, it means improving the insured rate to an unprecedented high, and extending access and improving coverage for children who currently have health insurance coverage but experience barriers to getting the care they need. Congress and the President have acknowledged that certain parts of the bill need to be fixed, and significant work remains to be done to ensure that all children have access to the care they need and deserve. This law represents society’s call to action to improve the health and well-being of all.
