Knowledge General knowledge: Students learn about the organization of the content on a postcard. Language: Adjectives and verb forms offer used in a postcard to a friend or a relative. 3. Skills: Writing a postcard to friend or a relative to tell about a vacation. METHOD: Integrated, mainly communicative TEACHING AIDS: Some postcards with pictures of scenic spots or historical places. PROCEDURE Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities Warm-up (4 mn) Teacher shows a few postcards and aska questions: 1) What do you call these? 2) What do you use postcards for? 3) What do you often write on a postcard? Pre-writing (8 mn) T: Work with partner. Read the postcards in the textbook and study its content and organization. (The organization of a letter on a postcard may vary. However, the order presented here is the usual one.) Teacher walks around the class and offers help when necessary. Then teacher selects a few students to give the answers. Students’ answers: 1) They’re postcards. 2) We often send postcards to our friends and relatives when we’re on vacation. 3) We write about the place we visit and about what we do during the trip. Students sit in pair, read the postcard printed in the textbook, and do task a) Answers: 1. b. ( Salutation) Dear Mary, 2. (Body) c. While-writing (18 mn) Teacher assigns task: Each student writes a postcard to a(n) (imaginary) foreign pen pal telling him/her about your recent vacation.
