The Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDÉCAF) was seeking a new manual for its French classes for children to replace the old one, which didn’t work well enough. In order to bring a solution to this dilemma, the authors of this paper proceeded to examinate a number of French manuals, based on an analysis grid they had established after interviewing teachers of French classes for children and studying FLE (French as a Foreign language) manuals evaluation theories.
