Safe and quality nursing care relies on a nurse’s ability to obtain adequate and appropriate information for effective decision making. Part of this includes development of basic computer literacy and information management skills to support all aspects of nursing practice. Nurse leaders and managers must understand how to integrate nursing informatics and health information technology (IT) to ensure the delivery of safe and quality nursing care.
