A new name, Magnolia kwangnanensis & sp. nov., and a new type are designated to accommodate the original description. Here we provide new data and a detailed morphological description for this species. Notes are also presented on its habitat, pollen morphology, and conservation status. Recently, one study (Nie et al., 2008) suggested that it was closely related to M. coco (Lour.) DC. based on nuclear .
