In India, over 370 million tonnes of biomass is generated every year and it contributes to over one third of primary energy (Chauhan, 2010). This biomass can be easily densified in the form of pellets and briquettes. The present study was undertaken to estimate the availability of biomass for major agricultural crops and to work out its energy potential. Based on the area under cultivation and production for the years 2000-01 and 2011-12, ten major agricultural crops of Haryana were selected . rice, jowar, bajra, maize, cotton, sugarcane, wheat, barley, gram, and rapeseed and mustard. Total amount of generated biomass in 2011-12 for kharif season was 000 Tonnes and for rabi season was 000 Tonnes. In 2011-12, total energy potential from kharif crop was ×108 and from rabi crop was ×107 .
