Nutrient index of available S in soils of two districts, namely, Howrah and South Dinajpur of West Bengal falling in the soil order Inceptisols collecting 237 soil samples from Howrah and 256 soil samples from South Dinajpur district. Soil samples were collected according to grid sampling pattern maintaining approximately km grid for Howrah and km grid for South Dinajpur district using global positioning system (GARMIN GPS Version etrex) covering 13 blocks of Howrah and 8 blocks of South Dinajpur district.
