Laboratory experiments were carried out to study the biology of Sitophilus oryzae on stored rice grains in different seasons during 2016-17. The results of the laboratory experiments revealed that the duration of various developmental stages . incubation period, larval period, pupal period and adult longevity varied from one season to another season. The longest incubation period, larval period and pupal period of ±, ± and ± days was registered during February. And the longest adult longevity of male with food of ± days and without food of ± days and adult longevity of female with food of ± and without food of ± days were also recorded during February. Total life cycle of male with food (±), without food (±) and total life cycle of female with food (±), without food (±) were also longest during February when the temperature and relative humidity ranges from °C to °C and to . respectively. The longevity of adult female was always higher than the males irrespective of season and food. | Biology of sitophilus oryzae (L.)
