Viral diseases have a remarkable impact on metabolism of their host plants. Carbohydrate and chlorophyll metabolism are two activities which are seriously affected by viral infections. In the present study, it was observed that the uninfected plants were containing more carbohydrates and chlorophyll than in virus infected plants. Hence it is established that the viral infection alterations in photosynthesis and as a result, disruption of normal phloem transport. | Effect of viral infection on carbohydrate and chlorophyll contents in ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.)
