Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) causes pediatric pneumonia and lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in older adults and immunocompromised individuals. The Present study aims to determine the proportion of RSV infection in patients with acute LRTI. Two step quantitative reverse transcriptase real time PCR was carried out on 80 samples for detection of RSV. The proportion RSV infection in our patients was found to be . Our study showed that RSV infection is not a common cause of LRTI in adults in this area.
