In this study, the Flowering locus T (FT) gene family has been initially identified, annotated and structural analyzed in the AM560-2 genome. As a result, 10 genes encoding FT were found to be located on the subtelomeric regions of the chromosomes with an uneven ratio. Interestingly, it was found that these gene members also encoded 4 protein groups, which were well-established to play critical roles in the flowering time in plants. Particularly, MeFT01, FT05 and FT09 were annotated to encode the Centroradialis-like proteins, while MeFT03, FT04 and FT07 encoded Terminal flower-like.
