Mesta (Hibiscus sabdariffa) is an important commercial fibre crop after cotton and jute, which belong to the family Malvaceae. The crop is mainly grown for a green leafy vegetable purpose in North Karnataka, India. Mesta crop is being affected by many diseases of which leaf curl disease caused by Begomovirus is a main constraint in its production.
