Chillies (Capsicum annuum) are an important commercial and export-oriented crop in India. Whitefly, Bemisia tabaci is a serious pest on chillies by destabilizing the plants through desapping plant juice and also transmitting chilli leaf curl disease (ChiLCD). Varietal resistance is the most economic, least complicated and environmental friendly approach for the control of insect pest damage.
