Evaluation of microfilaricidal efficacy of doxycycline, ivermectin and selamectin in dogs naturally infected with Dirofilaria repens

The present study was conducted to evaluate the microfilaricidal efficacy of doxycycline, ivermectin and selamectin in dogs naturally infected with D. repens. A total of eighteen dogs positive for microfilaria by modified Knott's method were included in the study. The species of microfilaria was identified as D. repens based on the morphology and micrometry by modified Knott's and Giemsa’s staining technique. The dogs were divided in to doxycycline, ivermectin and selamectin group with six dogs in each group.
