The laboratory experiment was conducted at Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. In this experiment, the adsorption of nitrate onto soils of different cropping systems viz. rice-wheat(R-W), rice-vegetable (R-V), pulse-pulse (P-P) and sugarcane(S) was carried out in a batch equilibrium system. Surface soil samples were collected for adsorption study from each cropping system.
