Tungabhadra project (TBP) irrigates almost lakh ha area, out of which lakh ha area of three districts of Karnataka and 2 lakh ha area of Andra Pradesh. In Karnataka it covers part of Koppal district mainly Gangavathi and Koppal talukas, where in Rice is the predominant sole double crop and hence rightly called as ―Rice Bowl of Karnataka‖.
