India is the largest producer and consumer of pulses in the world. However the production and consumption of pulses in India is low with inter-regional variations and the growth rate of area and production of pulses is negligible as compared to cereals. Many studies have been done for the different state of the country but no study has been done inter regionally for the state of Uttar Pradesh. This study has analyzed the production pattern and consumption pattern of pulses in different regions of Uttar Pradesh.
