Onion (Allium cepa) is an important spices crop commercially grown in India. The production of bulbs is limited by certain diseases. The most serious one is the purple blotch caused by Alternaria porri (Ellis) Cif. Variability studies on cultural and morphological features of the pathogen are of immense use in understanding the nature of the pathogen. In this regard an experiment was conducted and it was revealed that the growth of the fungus was significantly highest ( cm) in Czapeck's agar and lowest was in Tochinai’s agar ( cm). | Studies on cultural and physiological variability of alternaria porri Ellis Cif.
