Chrysanthemum is a second most important flower crop globally. Marigold is a introduced cultivar gaining popularity among farmers and consumers of southern part of India due to its colour and high shelf life. Due to its commercial importance as quality planting material and cut flowers it is difficult to mitigate the gradually increasing demand by only vegetative means of propagation which is time consuming with low multiplication rate.
