Antimicrobial resistance is considered a major health threat for patients and healthcare providers. It challenges the control of infectious diseases, jeopardizes any medical progress and imposes huge treatment costs. This study aimed to design an effective antibiotic policy for treatment of different types of infections at Gastrointestinal Surgical Center, Mansoura, Egypt in order to reduce antibiotic resistance, and to minimize unnecessary costs.
