Lakhimpur is a district of Assam which is most frequently affected by flood due to its topography. During periods of heavy rainfall in this region, sali (winter) rice is mostly affected and farmers suffer a great loss in income. Thus, considering the loss of the farmers, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Lakhimpur has introduced stress tolerant rice variety “Ranjit sub-1” developed by Assam Agricultural University in few pockets of the district.
