The detection of extended- spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) producing bacteria is important for infection control and epidemiological surveillance. The purpose of the present study was to compare two phenotypic methods for detection of ESBL positive Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in urinary isolates.
