Aim of the study is to identify and characterize the bioactive compounds from methanol leaf extract of Enicostemma axillare responsible for the bactericidal activity. The in vitro antibacterial activity was determined by disc diffusion method against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Enterococcus faecalis and Bacillus subtilis. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) studies were carried out to identify the presence of bioactive compounds. |
