Plants are well known as vectors for transmission of human enteric pathogens and exaggerate the outbreak events. Salmonella enterica, rod shaped, facultative anaerobic bacteria interferes with the microbial safety of raw vegetables. This study explored three sources: Village fields, Supermarkets and Street Vendors to ensure the microbial risk among seven raw vegetables (N=725). Water samples of the hand pumps sourced from village fields showed total coliforms >10ml-1 () and faecal coliforms >10ml-1 (). |
