Indoor air contamination of the operating theatres is one of the major sources of life threatening nosocomial infections for patients undergoing certain surgical procedures. There is dearth of information on the burden of airborne microbial contaminations of operating theatres in this environment, hence the need for the study. The study aimed at investigating the airborne microbial load and type of pathogenic isolates as a result of surgical procedures in the operating theatres of a tertiary hospital in South-west Nigeria. |
