Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn (Teleomorph: Thanatephorus cucumeris) is a soil borne, polyphagous, necrotrophic plant pathogenic fungus with a wide host range. It is causing sheath blight disease on a wide range of Graminae plant hosts and causes considerable losses in yield. It incites banded sheath blight disease in small millets, with its characteristic copper brown band symptoms. Fifty three isolates of Rhizoctonia solani were obtained from four different small millets showing typical symptoms of the disease. |
