Through this body of work it was found that both lysozyme and sfGFP remained in their native state in each of the selected PILs at 1 mol% IL: water concentrations. Both selected proteins were stable to highest proportions of PILs which contained the propylammonium cation and the acetate anion. This was contrary to some previously reported studies where the elongation of the alkyl chain length provided a greater stabilising effect than the shorter chained ILs. |
