Methods Case-Control study. Results 56 cases with an abscess case group and 112 cases without an abscess control group were enrolled. Determine the risk factors by multivariate logistic regression analysis only symptom duration gt 4 days fever on POD3-5 Neutrophil Lymphocyte ratio POD3-5 5 were independent risk factors for IAA. Optimal cut-off of symptom duration and Neutrophil Lymphocyte ratio POD3-5 for prediction of IAA were 4 days and 4 3 in turn. Negative predictive value for the presence of all three factors was 90 5 positive predictive value for the presence of all three factors was 100 . Conclusion Combination of these risk factors for prediction of IAA may help evaluate early discharge for patients with appendicitis reduce long hospital stay and readmission due to IAA.
