Nghiên cứu "Một số đặc điểm sinh học của loài rệp sáp bột hai tua dài Ferrisia Virgata Cockerell (Homoptera: Pseudococcidae) hại cây sầu riêng ở tỉnh Đắk Lắk" trình bày một số đặc điểm sinh học của vi khuẩn Ferrisia virgata gây hại trên cây sầu riêng được nghiên cứu trong điều kiện phòng thí nghiệm tại Viện Nghiên cứu BVTV vào năm 2019 - 2020, cây sầu riêng được sử dụng làm thức ăn để nuôi loại dịch hại này. Kết quả thu được chỉ ra rằng loài này có 2 dạng biến thái: biến thái hoàn toàn và biến thái không hoàn toàn. Obtained results indicated that this species had 2 types of metamorphisms complete and incomplete metamorphism. In incomplete metamorphic type this mealybug passed through stages of egg nymph 3 instars and female adult. Meanwhile in complete metamorphic hypermorphosis type they passed through the stages of egg nymph 2 instars pre-pupa pupa and male adult. The mean of life cycle of this pest was days o o at temperature of C to C and relative humidity of to . Egg period lasted for 1 - 2 days. Nymphal satges of females passed through 3 nymphal instars for - days pre-pupal and pupal stage of males lasted for - days longivity of adult female and adult males was - days and days respectively. Females had a rather high fecundity with the number of eggs deposited by a female ranged from 500-650 eggs female with average of - eggs female. Mating took place at 8 - 11 am with mating duration lasted from 25-30 minutes. Females started laying their eggs after mating 5-8 days and the oviposition lasted for days.
