Study design Scoping review. Methods Using databases from Pubmed website Hanoi Medical University library and manual search January 2013 to June 2022 . The inclusion criteria studies of decompression sugery for peripheral facial nerve palsy due to the temporal bone fracture. Results 17 studies were included in this scoping review. The pure transmastoid approach was dominant with 11 16 studies using in studies. There are 7 out of 14 studies that recommend early surgery for better results. There is no consensus on the specific time of surgery the maximum recommended time of surgery is less than 3 months. Treatment outcomes all studies reported improvement. There are 6 17 studies with gt 60 of patients improving the degree of facial paralysis in grades I and II. Conclusion The outcome of the treatment is significantly favorable clinical improvement especially early surgery gives better results. Predominant patient selection criteria include severe facial paralysis grade IV-VI degenerative ENoG gt 90 presence of vibration potential and or absence of regenerative potential in EMG results are suitable candidates for decompression surgery.
