Patients and methods A prospective decriptip on 40 patients receiving chemotherapy at the Department of Medical Oncology 5 K Hospital from January 1st to October 31st in 2020. Results Patients enrolled in the study had a mean age of years and the majority were under 60 years old. of patients had small and thin vessels. Common symptoms of extravasation were swelling pain at the site of extravasation hot swelling redness and the majority of patients had a small lesion whose diameters were less than 2cm. The most common site of extravasation was opisthenar and of the cases did some moves during infusion. All patients had symptoms relieved after intervention. The most common extravasation sequelae was induration accounting for . Conclusion Medical nurses need improving their technique of intravenous infusion as well as choosing the appropriate site of infusion special attention and care should be given to patients prone to extravasation who had small thin and difficult-to -obtain vessel.
