Because it is a true dark orange with no hidden hue tendencies it can do no wrong in admixture with any of the warm colors of yellow orange and red. Its transparency makes it very suitable to use as a glaze as well as making clean tints. Of course when mixed with a cool color such as green a nice warm murky green appears and lighter versions of that green can be made by adding degrees of white. Mixed with blue its complement black and white it makes lovely grays warm if the Burnt Sienna predominates cool if the blue does. Burnt Sienna seems to cancel out the violet in Alizarin Crimson and adds to it a nice warm glow. It s really a dark orange and with Raw Sienna and Cadmium Orange it completes a wide range of orange s tones and intensities. Burnt Sienna s origin is Raw Sienna.
