Perhaps you have a document library with specific views created that display only certain documents at a time. You can have two Web Parts of the document library on a web page and set each Web Part to a unique view so each shows different documents. When any documents that meet the criteria in the views are added to or removed from the library the Web Parts on the web page will automatically reflect the changes.
