By analyzing the information that is stored in the AWR, the database can identify the need to perform routine maintenance tasks, such as performing regular backups to maximize availability or refreshing statistics, which are used to optimize the execution of SQL statements. For problems that cannot be resolved automatically and require administrators to be notified (such as running out of space), the Oracle database provides server-generated alerts. The Oracle database can monitor itself and send out alerts to notify you of any problem. The alerts not only notify you of the problem, they also provide recommendations on how the reported problem can be resolved.
