Passage I There can be little doubt that women artists have been most prominent in photography and that they have made their greatest contribution in this field. Although 25 the mother of six children she adopted several more and still found time to be active in social causes and literary activities. After the Camerons settled in England in 1848 at Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight she became the center of an artistic and literary 30 circle that included such notable figures as the poet Alfred Lord Tennyson and the painter George Frederick Watts.
