Fish breeders were fed with four dietary levels 20 30 40 and 50 crude protein CP in aquaria. Male andfemale were distributed randomly in an aquarium and arranged in triplicate. Fecundities of broodstock fed with diet containing of 50 crude protein statistically differedfrom the other diets at P with numbers of 846 eggs per spawn 1 424 eggs in ovary and eggs per gram of body weight. Egg weight of female fed diet containing 50 crude protein was significantly higher than with the other diets at P with values of mg. The frequency of spawning intervals from 8 to 10 days on female fed diet 50 CP was higher than with the other diets. Fertilizability of eggs of female fed with diet containing 50 CP with values of was significantly different from the other diets at p . Similarly the best hatchability was found in females fed with diet 50 CP . Diet containing 50 crude protein was critical for reproductive growth of Pterophyllum scalare.
