The in vitro embryo culture appeared to be the most efficient for both species nearly 90 of viable plants . The two species expressed differences in germination rate without embryo culture. INTRODUCTION In the forests of west Europe and especially in France the genus Fraxinus is essentially represented by two species . Fraxinus excelsior L. common ash and Fraxinus angustifolia Vahl. narrow leaved ash . In the north part of France the common ash grows up to 30 m and is considered as a
