A high degree of polymorphism was detected and all 27 genotypes of the assay could be distinguished by combining the RAPD patterns of only two primers. The molecular analyses indicated that the local population has closest affinities to the Ano Nuevo provenance consistent with previous observations on performance and the physiological characteristics of the different provenances.
