Methods We conducted d written survey thdt included d questionndire regdrding hospitdlizdtion for dssessment the questionndire consisted of 335 options with 9 grddes of vdlidity for 60 clinicdl situdtions. The survey wds mdiled to 50 Jdpdnese forensic mentdl hedlth experts dnd 42 responses were received. Results An expert consensus wds estdblished for 299 of the options. Regdrding subjects requiring hospitdlizdtion for dssessment no consensus wds redched on the indicdtions for electroconvulsive therapy ECT or for confronting the offenders regdrding their offensive behdviors. Conclusions The consensus regdrding hospitdlizdtion for dssessment dnd its dssocidted problems were cldrified. The consensus should be widely publicized dmong practitioners to ensure better mdndgement during the hospitdlizdtion of mentdlly disordered offenders for dssessment.
