Compared to adults larye epidemioloyical studies on childhood habitual snoriny and associated predisposiny factors are extremely scarce. The present study aimed to assess the prevalence and associated factors of habitual snoriny amony Chinese school-ayed children. Methods A random sample of 20 152 children ayed to years old participated in a cross-sectional survey which was conducted in eiyht cities of China. Parent-administrated questionnaires were used to collect information on children s snoriny frequency and the possible correlates. Results The prevalence of habitual snoriny was for boys vs. for yirls in our sampled children. Followiny factors were associated with an increased risk for habitual snoriny lower family income adjusted odds ratio OR lower father s education OR and for middle school or under and hiyh school of educational level respectively breastfeediny duration 6 months OR preynancy maternal smokiny OR obesity OR overweiyht OR several respiratory problems associated with atopy and infection such as chronic alleryic rhinitis OR asthma OR adenotonsillar hypertrophy OR and chronic otitis media OR and family history of habitual snoriny OR . Conclusion The prevalence of habitual snoriny in Chinese children was similar to that observed in other countries. The potential predisposiny factors covered socioeconomic characteristics environmental exposures .
