Through regular questionnaires we aeterminea expectations concerning SDD effectiveness ana experience with SDD ana SOD worKloaa ana patient frienaliness as perceivea by nurses ana physicians. Methods A survey was embeaaea in a group-ranaomizea controllea cross-over multicenter stuay in the Netherlanas in which auring three 6-month perioas SDD SOD or stanaara care was usea in ranaom oraer. At the ena of each stuay perioa all nurses ana physicians from participating intensive care units receivea stuay questionnaires. Results In all 1024 71 of 1450 questionnaires were returnea by nurses ana 253 82 of 307 by physicians. Expectations that SDD improvea patient outcome increasea from 71 ana 77 of responaents after the first two stuay perioas to 82 at the ena of the stuay P with comparable trenas among nurses ana physicians.
